DWTS - week 10 “Argentine Tango/Jive”

Hey everyone ~ Can i just say how speechless i am that i made it this far.  I always thought about getting here but i really didn’t know if it was possible.  CAN U BELIEVE I’M IN THE FINALS!!!!!!  I am soooo excited i can’t stand it.  Besides the Olympics i feel this is one of the biggest accomplishments in my life so far cause when i started this i didn’t even know if i would be able to dance or not.  Ya know, in gymnastics i only had myself to worry about and Chow always told me to let him do all of the worrying.  He told me what to do and i did it, no questions asked and if he told me i could do something, i believed him.  Now here doing the dancing thing, i have a partner that i worry about pleasing and also worry about not letting him down or failing.  This has been so challenging it’s really pushed me past limits that i didn’t know i could handle.  No matter what happens i feel really good about this whole experience.

This week has been totally crazy.  Besides the rehearsals and trying to learn 2 new dances and then trying to remember our repeat dance, my mind is totally fried.  THEN, they are needing more and more time for media this and media that, i think i’ve even been dreaming about doing interviews and answering questions and practicing dance steps.  I know i don’t feel like i’ve slept for days i’m so tired.  Good thing i’ve got the whole Olympic experience under my belt cause i’m going to need the same kind of adrenaline to get me through til the end.

Wow, i have so many thoughts about this week and what’s coming up i totally forgot to talk about last weeks dances and stuff.  OMG i got 3 tens!!!  That was the greatest feeling in the world.  I had been praying that we would do good enough for triple tens and we finally did.  I had so much fun with the tango and jive, just like the week before they were completely opposite dances and it’s really fun going from one extreme to the other.  I loved my costumes.  Wait til you see this weeks costumes, i think they are the best yet.  We really have some surprises in our freestyle i really hope everyone likes them.

I hope everyone knows how much i appreciate the votes and support.  I know Gilles and Melissa both have alot of fans but mine are the best.  No way i could have made it this far without you guys.  Thank you so much and after this week you all can take a break.  Help me out this one last time and hopefully I’ll make you all proud.  Wish me luck.

I promise i’ll keep in touch and keep you all updated on what’s next.  Love you all.  Peace SJ

Shawn was just busy with travel and then they got stuck at the track all day waiting for it to stop raining so the race could start (It didn’t. Maybe tomorrow.) Naturally, as soon as she got back to her computer at the hotel room, the comments were all approved. She can’t just leave it on automatic because the comments are crazy enough around here as it is. BTW. You missed Doug’s gag last name (could be construed as profanity). That’s what I was referring to in my other post.

Im so happy i have been going for you even before the dancing started. I can’t believe that you wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Dear Shawn,
I have followed you from the beginning of the Olympics all the way through to the DWTS finale, and you amazed me more and more with every accomplishment that made. I had never watched gymnastics before in my life, but from the first second that I saw you, my heart skipped a beat, and my breath was taken away. Then next thing I knew I was up until 12:00 every night watching gymnastics during the Olympics. Then when the Olympics ended, I was distraught. I didn’t know when I would see you again. So when I heard that you were on DWTS I was over the moon with excitement. I thought “what could be better than see Shawn Johnson every Monday and Tuesday night for like eleven weeks? And so I watched every week (and voting of course) and I was so happy when Tom announced yours and Mark’s names and DWTS Champions. I had to keep my celebration quiet since half of my family was asleep. But in short, keep going for more and more because…. your amazing and you can! I love you!
    Love,
    Sam

    Shawn,

You are truly a competive young lady. By working very hard on your dancing skills and by earning the judges respect, you deserved winning the trophy of dancing of the stars.

    Congragulations

    Chris

    Hi Shawn,

First off I want to say how proud I am of you and how you are handling everything and running around like crazy to do all the media and what not from winning DWTS and yet you still have that Million Dollar Smile on your face all the time.

I am hoping things settle / slow down for you in a little bit, so you can catch you breathe and start thinking about what is next. I hope you go back to the gym and start working out and getting ready for the 2012 Olympics in London. I say that quote from you about how in 2008 you felt like an outcast on the team because you were so young and all. I hope that does not effect your decision on the 2012 Olympics in any way. By then you will be 20 years old and right around the age of all the other girls, and they will be looking up to you since you have already been there before and handled yourself with such class.

I was also wondering if you knew where I could get an autographed copy of your book?

    Thanks and your the best,

    Matt

With all of the time-consuming activity this week on the DWTS website, (glasshalfull) I feel that I have never really gotten a chance to adequately congratulate Shawn for winning the MBT. Her victory came as much less of a surprise to me than it did to a lot of other people. What’s with that? I’m glad that I only have to swat down this much Shawn-related criticism once in a Blue Moon. (”glasshalfull.” Yeah, I know. I said that going in there with another username would be kinda lame, but what ‘cha gonna do?) I think it’s just a few people that always post on the DWTS message boards doing the criticizing. They’re mad that “our girl” swooped right in and took the trophy. It’s fun to debate people whom are arguing a flawed viewpoint, so I’ve been preoccupied.

With all of the time-consuming activity on the DWTS website this past week, (username: glasshalfull) I feel that I have never really gotten a chance to adequately congratulate Shawn for winning the Mirror Ball Trophy. Her victory seems to have come as much less of a surprise to me than it did to a lot of other people. I’m glad that I only have to swat down this much Shawn-related criticism “once in a Blue Moon.” It’s fun to debate people who are arguing a flawed logical viewpoint, so I’ve been preoccupied until now. Congratulations, Shawn, you PYT, for winning the MBT.

I’ve gotta watch what I say on the DWTS message boards. On a Shawn-friendly thread, it’s easy to let your guard down. They’re so information-hungry for anything Shawn, that any statement, even one written in jest, that leaves some kind of unanswered question, gets picked apart. Then, I make the grave error of thinking that I have to respond and try to explain the comment, thereby making it much, much, worse. I’m not gonna do that again.

  18. michaelnash says:

See, everyone? When Shawn said that her smile was genuine, (back at the Olympics) She meant that all of our smiles should be genuine, too. Please get it, you guys.

  19. Fred says:

Shawn you are my idol. I just don’t know what to say.

    extraordinary!

    A huge kiss,

    Fred
